NCAPA applauds enactment of California data disaggregation bill: NCAPA and its members Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) and Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) celebrated the signing of the AHEAD Act (AB 1726), a California bill that will require health agencies to collect data on our diverse communities.

Dept. of Interior finalizes pathway to government-to-government relationship between U.S. and Native Hawaiian community: NCAPA and its member the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) welcomed the announcement from the U.S. Department of Interior of a final rule to re-establish a government-to-government relationship between the U.S. and the Native Hawaiian community.

NCAPA joins letter demanding immediate aid to address Flint lead crisis: NCAPA signed onto a letter led by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights urging Congress to address the Flint, Michigan, lead crisis and provide aid immediately. NCAPA members APIAHF, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - AAJC, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance and National CAPACD also supported.

Solidarity for Movement for Black Lives: Following recent shootings in North Carolina and Oklahoma, APALA listed ways to help fight for justice. NAPAWF also released a statement from Executive Director Miriam Yeung denouncing Terence Crutcher’s murder.

SALDEF PSA addressing anti-turban bias re-airs: Comcast re-aired the first-ever Sikh American PSA this year, resulting in an additional 108,000 airings. The PSA is aimed at increasing public awareness about the Sikh American community.

#MyHealthMyVote Twitterstorm puts spotlight on AANHPI voter engagement: NCAPA members the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) and APIAHF led a Twitterstorm yesterday ahead of National Voter Registration Day to amplify the importance of voting for a healthier future. National CAPACD conference mobilizes communities: Last week, the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development held its 16th annual convention. During the convention, Rep. Keith Ellison addressed attendees, stressing the importance of increased civic engagement. The convention also honored executive director Lisa Hasegawa, who is stepping down as executive director of National CAPACD after 15 years.
