National Council of Asian Pacific Americans Applauds Bipartisan Senate Vote to

Defeat Stop Sanctuary Policies and Protect Americans Act

The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) applauds today’s bipartisan Senate vote to defeat the so-called Stop Sanctuary Policies and Protect Americans Act (S. 2146). NCAPA was proud to join 75 immigrant, civil rights, and labor organizations in opposing this legislation and demanding comprehensive immigration reform. S. 2146 would have undermined local efforts to enhance community safety. Instead, Senators from both parties chose to protect the trust between local law enforcement and communities and to safeguard funding for critical public safety and community development programs.
