National Asian American and Pacific Islander Organizations Oppose Sessions Attorney General Nomination
The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) and 19 of its member organizations joined a letter in strong opposition to the confirmation of Sen. Jeff Sessions to be the 84th Attorney General of the United States. The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, a coalition of which NCAPA is a member, led the letter, backed by nearly 150 civil rights organizations.
NCAPA National Director Christopher Kang:
Senator Jeff Sessions' record clearly shows that he will not ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans, and therefore, he should not be confirmed to serve as the United States Attorney General. Senator Sessions' actions, words, and policies do not embrace an America that protects the rights of all its citizens. Time and time again, he has been on the wrong side of history with respect to people of color, immigrants, women, people with disabilities, people of all religions, and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Americans. NCAPA has a different vision for America--a vision of progress, prosperity, and well-being for all. We are confident that a majority of the United States Senate shares this vision, and that after reviewing Senator Sessions' record, the Senate will conclude, as we have, that he is not fit to serve as our Attorney General.
Last week, Kang also wrote in the Huffington Post that Senators Must Vote 'No' to Jeff Sessions As Attorney General.
