Our latest blog post:
Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month!
As a coalition of more than 30 national Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations, the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) is looking forward to celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) throughout May. Each organization within NCAPA does work related to civil rights, health, immigration, education and more. This APAHM, we are spotlighting the achievements of our members who work year-round to address issues important to our communities.
“May is a time to recognize the countless contributions that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made to our nation, and as the fastest-growing racial group, we continue to shape the history and culture of the United States,” saidNCAPA National Director Christopher Kang.
Here are a few ways you can celebrate APAHM:
- Follow along all month on our blog, Twitter and Facebook for NCAPA member spotlights.
- Read the Presidential Proclamation for APAHM.
- Celebrate with us in Washington, D.C., by checking out the list of APAHM events on the NCAPA website.
- Read NCAPA’s letter as part of a campaign to take on hate against Muslim, SIkh, Arab and South Asian American communities and show solidarity.
- Record your #MyAAPIStory — your immigration story, how you’ve preserved your identity, etc. — and share with StoryCorps and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
- Take a photo and share #MyAPALife with PBS and NCAPA member the Center for Asian American Media.
- Share social media, photos, links and more with #MyAsianAmericanStoryto be featured on NBC Asian America.
- Be sure to use #APAHM2016 throughout the month to show us how you’re recognizing APAHM!

The Swine epidemic that killed 115,000 worlwide started in North America (the genetic origins principally from American sources), yet NO other nation thought to call it the “American” flu, or worse yet, the “American Swine”* flu.
Note: the US is 2nd in the world in the production and consumption of Pork.
**"American Swine" was a particularly hateful, nationalistic slur used by Nazis and other enemies of the US since the 20th century.
