APALA celebrates Labor Day: This year, APALA is celebrating Labor Day by commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Delano Grape Strike in 1965 with the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS). Read their press release.
APIAHF publishes best practices for immigrant outreach: A new report from APIAHF outlines lessons for advocates and policymakers used in health insurance outreach and how they can be applied to efforts with enrollment for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). This report coincides with the third anniversary of DACA. Download the report.
CAAM announces 2015 Documentary Fund Awards: The Center for Asian American Media selected four films by independent filmmakers for this year’s Documentary Fund Awards. Films include a story about a San Francisco artist who has spent four decades recreating his memories of Chinatown from his youth, as well as a documentary about Japanese Americans who asserted their democratic rights at Tule Lake Segregation Center. APIAVote and AAJA to partner for Presidential Town Hall: Next August at the Asian American Journalists Association convention, APIAVote and AAJA will host a Presidential Town Hall, the groups announced this week.
