National Council of Asian Pacific Americans Statement on Christchurch Shooting in New Zealand

Washington, DC—National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), issued the following statement on the mass shooting at Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday afternoon:

“The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans extends our deepest condolences to the victims and families who have suffered at Christchurch. We stand with all people of good will in supporting the Muslim community, during their time of mourning. We denounce this racist, xenophobic, and senseless attack and call upon our country’s leaders to do more than extend ‘thoughts and prayers.’ Our Muslim brothers and sisters have been deeply harmed and rhetoric alone falls short when their leadership is desperately needed. While our hearts are hurting, our resolve is strengthened in this fight against xenophobia and white nationalism.”
