Dear Members of the Senate,

The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), founded in 1996, is a coalition of thirty-four Asian Pacific American organizations. NCAPA serves to represent the interests of the greater Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander communities and to provide a national voice for issues relevant to these communities.

NCAPA strenuously urges you to oppose any anti-immigrant amendments offered to the Justice for Victims in Trafficking Act. Such amendments move us further from the important work of comprehensively improving our immigration system through meaningful and humane legislative solutions. The anti-immigrant proposals currently under discussion are direct attacks on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and hurt the economy and families all over the United States.

Amendments which undermine our Constitution and long-established due process protections are simply attempts to block comprehensive immigration reform. These amendments hurt Americans, children and members of the AAPI community. In 2013, 68 members of the Senate, including every Democrat, voted in favor of comprehensive immigration reform and rejected anti-immigrant amendments in committee markup.
