NCAPA Denounces White House Immigration Principles

The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) denounces the Trump Administration’s immigration principles, released on Sunday. These xenophobic, anti-immigrant proposals include funding for a border wall, increased interior enforcement measures including withholding funding from sanctuary cities, and cutting family-based legal immigration.

The Trump Administration has made it clear that these anti-American policies must be considered as part of any legislation that would protect the over 800,000 DREAMers waiting for relief since the end of the DACA program, including close to 130,000 DACA-eligible AAPI individuals.

NCAPA urges Congress to pass a clean DREAM Act immediately, instead of pitting immigrant communities against each other.

NCAPA members that have spoken out on these principles include:

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC

Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA)

Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO)

National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC)

OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates

South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT)

Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC)
